I would like to do something interactive and know more what people are into.
What do you eat?
These are my top 5 staple foods:
Oatmeal has been my standard breakfast, every day, for the past years. I find it delicious, hearty and it’s always something I’m looking forward to. In fact, you can say I have a passion for oatmeal!
Oatmeal, like other whole grains, is known to reduce cholesterol levels, reduce risks of cardiovascular disease, reduce blood pressure and helps regulate blood sugar levels.
Purple sweet potato is my second favorite staple food. I have tried other variants but I find them too starchy. The purple sweet potato also has an amazing and unique taste. I eat it in lunches, dinners, as a snack. If I could, it would be my only food!
Compared to oatmeal, purple sweet potato can be more expensive. Also sometimes you do get rotten sweet potatoes at the grocery store.
See the health benefits of purple sweet potatoes.
I can’t remember a single time where I was at the grocery store and didn’t pick up bananas. A special love story, if you ask me 😀
Bananas are crazy cheap, delicious and filling. It has a very practical skin packaging so you can take it everywhere as a snack, and it beats all other snacks this way. It’s also my favorite source of nutrition for sports! 1 banana = 1 run
Peanuts and peanut butter. Seriously. I am addicted to peanuts in all its form. Give me a pound of peanuts and I can’t stop. I sometimes surprise myself just eating peanut butter from the jar, with a spoon. I also find lots of ways to apply it everywhere every day: in oatmeals, on bananas (see a pattern?), in shakes, or added to various baked goodies.
Is there too much of a good thing? I don’t think so. Check the health benefits of peanuts.
I don’t eat (anymore) red meat or chicken. My go-to meat and 5th staple food is now salmon.
Salmon is loaded with good fat. It’s good for your health and a natural source of fish oil. But I eat it mainly because it’s delicious. It’s also very hard to go wrong when preparing salmon.
Note: salmon can be quite expensive so I always buy in quantities. Make sure to check it’s wild salmon and not farmed salmon.
That’s it : oatmeal, purple sweet potatoes, bananas, peanuts and salmon. Can’t live without those, every day 😀
Enough about me. What about you? What are your top 5 staple food?

Great list, It’s not technically “food” but I’d add “tea” here. Oatmeal for me as well, almonds, and bokchoi.
